Tonight, ABC debuts Notes from the Underbelly after recap episodes of Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy. I initially planned to pass on this series, but I got a chance to see the pilot and was surprised at how much it made me laugh… mostly due to Rachel Harris who, thanks to her trademark glasses, you may remember from Curb Your Enthusiasm or Fat Actress. Harris plays a bitter and jaded divorce lawyer who believes relationships are bound to fail, making her the character with the sharpest one-liners.

My expectations were pretty low when I screened the Underbelly pilot, so there’s a good chance that low expectations made the show seem funnier than it really was. I’ll be checking out tonights premiere to see if Harris continues to make the show work or if my low expectations skewed my reaction.
