- Lifetime plans a dating game show, titled Gay, Straight or Taken, in each episode a woman meets three men — with one man already in a relationship and another being gay. If she finds the guy who’s heterosexual and available, she wins a dream date to share with the guy. While the idea of turning the cliche of “All the good ones are married, dead or gay.” into a series is funny, am I the only one thinking this is the newest Three’s a Crowd or Playing it Straight?
- Oh, lovely, are we seeing the kind of sexist double-standard typical to superheroes in Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood? I was really excited about this series, but the negative buzz is killing that anticipation. It’s too bad, TV could really use a series where John Barrowman gets to be all handsome and charming… hm, have they done the Captain Jack meets the new Doctor episode, yet? That’d be a bit of a handsome and charming overload, wouldn’t it?
- Okay, why does it feel reassuring to hear of Masi Oka visiting a Kinokuniya Book Store and talking about his appreciation for Naoki Uraawa? It’s not like we’re gonna geek out together with me warning him not to spoil Monster for me.
- Here’s a little irony, the same-sex partner of an Enron employee convicted in illegal manipulation of the company’s stock will get to keep some of his ill-gotten fortune, unlike the married spouses of others convicted in the Enron scandal, since they are not legally married. As much as I want to chuckle at the irony, I just get angry.
- Blog@Newsarama’s list of Ten Really Good Series That Ended Way Too Soon, includes two of my top picks — Chase and Young Heroes in Love — so I’m happy. My top choice for a series that didn’t last long enough, though, would be Adam Warren’s run on Gen-13.

Yeah… hate to be the one to have to tell you this, but Torchwood is kind of disappointing. Captain Jack isn’t nearly as roguishly charming as he was in Doctor Who.
Oh, and just to rub salt in the wound, Russel T. Davies has been on record saying that Torchwood and Doctor Who will never have a crossover.
I, too, was crushed when I heard that.
