- Kidnapped might be the next series to set for future cancellation. Additional episodes won’t be ordered and the show is being asked to switch to an alternate timeline that wraps up the serialized storyline within 13 episodes. Cheers if NBC decides to finish the story, despite the ratings drop.
- The other show Fox put on hiatus, Justice, might continue for three more episodes.
- Meanwhile, that Eureka renewal I mentioned the other day? It was officially announced yesterday.
- Here’s one more basic cable show I’ll be happy to see return — Comedy Central has ordered a fifth season of Reno 911.
- Expect more changes to TV schedules. The CW might shift 7th Heaven and Runaway to Sunday nights with the network’s African-American comedy block to return to Mondays. Hooray for swift action to save Everybody Hates Chris even of it means Chris going against How I Met Your Mother. Fox, meanwhile, may be moving Vanished to a deadly Friday night slot with Justice taking its place against Heroes in the post Prison Break slot.

Woo-hoo! I’m glad to hear that Eureka’s been renewed! I was a bit suprised by this in the link, though:
‘Eureka’ is SCI FI’s highest-rated, most watched series of 2006. … The ‘Eureka’ premiere remains the highest rated series telecast in SCI FI Channel history.
Really? Eureka got more viewers than the episodes of Galactica shown in early 2006? Eureka got more viewers than the first season of Dr. Who? Wow - congrats to the Eureka guys - that’s impressive. (yes, snark says that being the best-rated show on the Sci-Fi channel is like being the coolest kid at the comic book store, but since I’m not even the coolest kid at the comic book store, i’m impressed).
And moving Everybody Hates Chris up against How I Met Your Mother is probably okay - it ticks me off that they aren’t putting it up against The Class, because then I could watch them both, but I gather that the cross-over audience between the two may not be as big as I’d think it was.

Eureka has an advantage in airing in the summer when it was one of a small number of original dramas. Galactica aired against more competition on other networks, so Eureka drawing larger audiences isn’t too surprising.
From what little I’ve seen, I think Doctor Who did good but not great. I don’t think SciFi sees it as one of their shows, though (especially since it’s getting repeated much later on BBC America) so they’re not advocating for it as strongly.
