Cheers to Warner Music for negotiating a deal with YouTube where YouTube will pay royalties on uploaded videos that use Warner music (based on ad revenue generated by those videos).
I’ve been debating with myself the conflict between consumers’ expectations and copyright enforcers (I think I’ve found a term fits the record labels) regarding YouTube and it’s a very pleasant surprise to learn that a record label has conceived a solution that’s innovative and finds a middle ground.
I’ve been having fun playing with The Sims 2 and Microsoft Movie Maker. The thought of making a Sims machinima music video has crossed my mind a few times, but the copyright concerns have deterred me. Maybe I’ll pursue that idea now… I hope Blondie’s still signed with Warner, ’cause I get a Sims movie going through my head every time “Good Boys” comes up on my iPod.
UPDATE: Blast it, that “Good Boys” CD is Sony/Epic. Ah well, onwards to find a Waner track that inspires me.
